We're often asked about our day-to-day work and, when we aren't supporting on major exhibitions, the MCD Heritage team can often be found making routine upgrades and refurbishments to the sites we work with. These last few weeks, this has included lighting and flooring refurbishments at the V&A museum.
The V&A were making upgrades to the existing lighting within the V&A bookshop to new LED-style lighting, in order to gain a consistent shade throughout the area. We supported the V&A with this move through opening up glass cavities within the bookstore (previously untouched!) and working meticulously to achieve a consistent lighting level.
Additionally, the V&A enlisted us to sand the black-stained floors throughout the museum, taking these back to the original oak with a lacquer finish. The MCD Heritage team completed the job on time, working from 10pm in the evening, through the night and into the following day to avoid noise disruption to the public. Both the team at the V&A and we were pleased with the end outcome (pictured) and we are looking forward to continuing to support on further refurbishments.
