Our Zero Carbon ambition
The MCD Path to Net Zero…
Construction produces 39% of global CO2 emissions. That’s not a statistic we can look away from. It’s a responsibility we carry into every project.
The evidence is everywhere. Rising seas. Rising temperatures. Rainfall that breaks records more often than not. To keep warming below 1.5ºC, we all have to act. So we are.
Our Commitment
We’ve signed the SME Climate Commitment through the SME Climate Hub, joining businesses worldwide in the UN-backed Race to Zero campaign. We’ve committed to three things:
• Halve our emissions before 2030
• Reach net zero before 2050
• Report our progress, every year, in public
No small print. No delay.
The Numbers
In 2023, our operations produced 278.85 tonnes of CO2e. That’s our baseline.
By 2025, we’d brought that down to 27.64 tonnes.
We’re proud of that progress. We’re also honest about it: some of the improvement reflects a better, more consistent way of measuring – not just a better way of operating. So we keep measuring, every year, and we hold ourselves to the numbers, not the narrative.
Going Deeper
Alongside our SME Climate Hub commitment, we continue to work with Grosvenor and SBTi Services. Together, we’re examining our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in detail, to set science-based targets grounded in the latest climate research. It’s slower work. It’s also the work that matters most, because it tells us not just how much carbon we produce, but exactly where – so we can cut it, not offset it.

Everyone Has a Part
Targets don’t hit themselves. Every person at MCD Heritage has a role in getting there — from the site to the studio to the office. If you have an idea, a better way of working, a question worth asking, we want to hear it.
This is a shared project. We intend to keep it that way.
Real-time Data Tracking
We partner with QFlow. Their systems track materials and waste in real time, at the source. That means better decisions — on cost, on carbon, on quality.
We use only what we need. We waste less. We build for today without borrowing from tomorrow.
