MCD Heritage successfully delivered a comprehensive strip-out and white-box refurbishment in Belgravia, London, for as part of our ongoing major works framework.
Completed over a 21-week programme, the project involved extensive structural, mechanical and electrical upgrades to prepare the property for its next phase of occupation. Key works included the replacement of the shopfront awning, reconstruction of floors incorporating honeycomb brickwork and timber joisting, waterproof rendering and damp investigations, installation of a new ventilation system, and a complete electrical rewire with bespoke lighting design. Additional energy-efficiency improvements included the installation of electric panel heaters and solar-reflective toughened glazing to the existing sash windows.
The scope also encompassed external decorations via scaffold access, asphalt repairs to pavement lights, structural alterations to staircases and floors, fire escape works, floor restoration and polishing, drylining, redecoration, and external rendering. With approximately 30 operatives and specialist contractors on site throughout the programme, careful planning and stakeholder management were essential to minimise disruption to the residential occupants above the premises.
Sustainability remained a key consideration throughout the project. Timber offcuts were recycled, all waste movements were monitored through Qualis Flow (Qflow), and high-performance vacuum glazing with solar-reflective properties was incorporated to improve the building’s environmental performance.
This complex refurbishment was delivered in collaboration with our trusted specialist supply chain, including Watkins Cole, Timberwise, Olliewood, MH Civil Constructors, Fantastic Glass & Glazing, Crystal Sigma, PSS and Knightsbridge Roofing, whose expertise was instrumental in the successful completion of the project.
