Based in Milbank, Westminster the Tate Britain gallery is part of the Tate Network of galleries, with Tate Modern, Tate Liverpool and Tate St Ives. It is the oldest Tate gallery, having opened in 1897 and its ranked 50th in the worlds most visited art museums.

The Happy Gas exhibition showcase’s more than 75 works from Sarah Lucas spanning over four decades. Constructed in the Tate’s Gallery 61, the exhibition is seen as a survey of Sarah Lucas’ work and a mix of sculptures and photographs as well as new works being shown for the first time. This diverse exhibition breaks the boundaries with humour and daring, depicting the whole spectrum of what it means to be human.

The Tate could not be happier with MCD Heritage’s work, and we are looking forward to continuing this wonderful relationship”

— The Tate

The MC Heritage team played a crucial role in bringing this striking exhibition to life, working in close collaboration with the artist to ensure her vision was realised. Our highly skilled tradesmen were instrumental in reconfiguring partitioning walls to create an engaging and structured exhibition space.

They meticulously constructed bespoke display plinths, carefully installed the diverse range of artwork and sculptures, and handled all aspects of decorating the gallery.

This included the installation of custom vinyl wall coverings that seamlessly complemented the exhibit’s design aesthetic. Every element was executed with precision and expertise, ensuring that the exhibition not only met but exceeded expectations.

The project required a deep understanding of both the practical and artistic requirements of exhibition curation, and the MC Heritage team was proud to contribute to the success of this ambitious and captivating display.
