One of the first tasks to receive attention is the gallery’s original parquet flooring. After years of wear from various different exhibitions, the floor was showing significant signs of age. The restoration team under the watchful eye of our Site Manager Ian Fernie, began by carefully removing damaged wooden tiles, ensuring that the integrity of the existing design was maintained.

New tiles, crafted from the same type of wood, were installed to replace those beyond repair. Once the replacements were laid, various finishes were applied and presented to the client, allowing for a thoughtful selection of finish that best complements the character and history of the space
