Jordan Pierce

Jordan Pierce joined MCD Heritage Ltd in February 2022 as a Multi Trader, bringing with him a wealth of experience from across the industry. His talent and dedication were quickly recognised, and he soon progressed into the role of Site Supervisor. Now on the Site Management Pathway, Jordan is working towards becoming a Site Manager.

Jordan’s experience working with MCD Heritage

What does a typical day look like for you at MCD Heritage?

Well, it all depends on where I’m working. If I’m on my own project, I’ll start by opening the site up, making sure all staff and subcontractors have completed a site induction and signed onto the RAMS before any works can begin. I also check that everyone has the correct PPE and equipment, and that the site is safe to work on. There’s general site paperwork to complete and regular checks to ensure equipment is safe to use. I’ll go through the project programme to make sure daily tasks are on track.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy everything about my role. I like both sides of the job. I enjoy jumping in on the tools just as much as running jobs, managing the team, and working with clients.

What’s been your favourite project so far – and why?

That’s a hard one! I’ve been lucky to enjoy all my projects but in particular the Shaftesbury Theatre and Somerset House. At Shaftesbury, we did a large fit-out and refurbishment across multiple areas, it was a high-quality job, and I was proud to be part of it. At Somerset House, we worked on the Salt Staircase, restoring it to its original state from hundreds of years ago. It was a challenging project, as we had to work around the building’s staff and residents, but we managed it, and the client was extremely happy with the result.

What has been your favourite location to work in – and what made it special?

All of our projects are based around London, and what makes them special is the history and heritage behind them. Not many people get to work in the kinds of places we do, surrounded by incredible architecture and stories. Every building has its own unique story, it’s pretty amazing to be part of that every day.

What’s the most challenging part of your work?

Trying to keep all subcontractors aligned with our schedule, especially when they’re juggling other projects. It can create delays and put pressure on meeting deadlines. The key is staying calm and finding practical solutions to keep the job moving forward.

How do you approach problem-solving on site?

With a calm, cool head. I look at the issue, talk to the team, and try to figure out the best way to fix it. There’s always a solution, it’s just about staying focused and working together to find it.

What’s one thing that sets MCD apart from other companies you’ve worked for?

The quality of the work and the attitude across the team. We take pride in what we do and aim to set a high standard on every project. There are no egos here, we’re like a family. Everyone supports each other and helps out when needed. A good attitude is a must when you work here. 

Can you share a memorable moment?

The support I received after suddenly losing my father-in-law. It was a really difficult time for my wife, kids, and me. The way my managers and teammates checked in and offered support meant a lot — I’ll never forget it.

What are you looking forward to working on next?

I’m always excited to find out what the next project is. No two are the same, each one comes with its own challenges and learning experiences.

How has your role or experience grown since joining?

I started off as a Multi Trader, and now I’m a Site Supervisor. I’m hoping to begin my Site Management training in the next few months — just working that around my current projects.

Your feet- some of these projects involve a lot of walking and steps can be from 20,000 – 30,000 steps a day.

Fruit.
