A MCD Heritage project
Requirements:

The Tate Britain required an exhibition build partner to support the 34th world-renowned Turner Prize exhibition, opening to the public on 26th September 2018. The exhibition aims to promote public debate around new developments in contemporary British art and displayed work from the four shortlisted artists: Forensic Architecture, Naeem Mohaiemen, Charlotte Prodger and Luke Willis Thompson.
As one of the best-known visual arts prizes, this year the Turner Prize exhibition also required extensive audio-visual equipment since all the shortlisted artists had audio-visual installations including one on a curved screen.
Our Approach
Given our long-term relationship with the Tate Britain, we were able to work to the varying requirements of the four artists and manage their separate installations.
Throughout the project, we completed the following:
- Co-ordination of all works with art handlers,
- Execution of Forensic Architecture installation including projectors, headphone stands, building frames,
- Building sound panels, cinema chairs and shelf units for Mohaiemen AV installation,
- Supply and installation of perspex screens for the Luke Willis Thompson's work,
- Painting and finishing all separate installations, ensuring the change in colour across specified walls and a curved wall,
- Co-ordination of artists, electricians and audio-visual specialists for the mixed media installations,
- Supplying the exhibition with furniture, text panels and curtains,
- Specialist support for insulation for sound including sound panels and carpeting on walls.
Results
The Tate Britain benefitted from a completed installation, ahead of schedule with all artists’ work displayed to meet their vision.
