What did the Tate Britain require?
The Tate Britain required a contractor to complete a full internal build and redecoration to 8 galleries to house the Ruin Lust exhibition. All works would have to be completed within a 10-day strict schedule so the exhibition would open to the public without delay. The works required the deconstruction of their previous installation of the L.S. Lowry exhibition, removing previously installed stud partition walls and erecting new wall areas and a range of plinths to house the artwork.
What did we do?
Being a long-standing partner of the Tate Britain, we co-ordinated the completion of the following activities;
- Arranging labour to protect the wooden floor to all 8 galleries prior to demolishing the previous exhibition and skipping the debris,
- Erecting 260M2 of new stud partition walls, all of which had to be completed within 2 days in order to allow enough time to tape & joint and dry,
- Refurbishing the galleries; sanding down, filling, undercoating and applying 2 coats of Dulux emulsion of various colours,
- Manufacturing a range of plinths at the joinery workshop and clear Perspex showcase lids so the smaller art works could be displayed securely,
- Working in conjunction with the Tate’s AV specialists staff to create a a dark room suitable for projection,
- Co-ordinating the installation of a dark carpet and also a black fabric to cover the ceiling of the projector room.
